What is Domain?
In the context of the internet, a domain is a unique name that identifies a website. It is a part of a website's URL (Uniform Resource Locator) and helps to locate the website on the internet. For example, in the URL https://www.example.com, "example.com" is the domain name.
A domain name is composed of two or more parts, separated by dots. The last part of the domain name is called the top-level domain (TLD) and indicates the type of organization or country associated with the domain. For example, .com is a generic TLD for commercial entities, .edu is a TLD for educational institutions, and .uk is a TLD for websites in the United Kingdom.
Domain names are registered with domain name registrars, which are organizations that manage the registration of domain names. Once a domain name is registered, it is assigned to an IP (Internet Protocol) address, which is a unique identifier for a website's server on the internet. This enables users to access a website by typing in its domain name, rather than having to remember the IP address.
